This position provides technical experience as part of a team that proactively monitors, maintains and grows the technical infrastructure that supports the daily operations of the University.
The Network Engineer reports to the Director of Network Services and Information Security.
General Purpose:
The Network Engineer exists to provide technical experience and participate in the day-to-day implementation, administration and maintenance of the University's data transmission infrastructure.
This position is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the local and wide area networks of the University.
Remote Workdays:
This is a hybrid position and it is eligible for remote workdays.

Responsibilities:
Install, upgrade and maintain network-related systems including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructureSystem administration of server environments associated with the operation of the data and/or telephony networks including performance monitoring and proactive problem reportingConfigure network-related systems for optimum performance, efficiency, security and availabilityDetermine requirements for network infrastructure change and growthInterface with equipment vendors to identify equipment that meets or exceeds requirementsDirect contractors and internal resources involved in network installationInterface with ISP's to troubleshoot routing, stability, performance or other issuesImplement system upgrades and patchesAutomate administration tasks through scriptingAssist in the maintenance of data center infrastructureRecommend related policies and proceduresParticipate in a 24x7 on-call system administrator rotationLeverage experience and judgment to accomplish goals with a moderate degree of supervision; exercises some independent decision making as appropriateAssist with other projects, administrative duties, and initiatives as assignedHealth & Safety:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
